What a busy busy round. I guess the best place to start is from the beggining.
I started the round in a sector that had 3 competing groups in it. I ended up siding with 1, and balanced the scale, as they had been short a member, and i dislike the other options for SL. At times, it looked like the SL race was gonna turn into a civil war, but things managed to pan out. Our alliance voting was even more hairy. I had initially promised cereal i would try to get to mortality, but it became obvious that wasn't going to happen. I then changed modes, trying to ensure we didn't end up in fenris, source, or lumi. As a last ditch effort, i contacted bed and got the pass to crucifix. We also got the pass to Masq from mind. oh, how different this round could have been. After suggesting crucifix, everyone picked that as middle-ground, and away we went.
Crucifix started to fill up, and eid decided to start booting less active sectors. Mine was one of them. I got really mad, and starting a stink in the Afs, because they were badly spammed. I argued that posting in the AFs was a waste of time in thier current condition, and that we were being punished for not wanting to waste our lives. Eid didn't see it that way, and it took wybo's intervention to stop us from getting booted.
Two days outta newbie mode, my sector and 5:6 traded around 10 hits and many more probings. Things really got heated up, and we where afraid a sector war might break out. 5:6 eventually backed down, and has eaten our dust since.
After pointing out several flaws with the current crucifix systems, suggesting new ones, and generally being a stinker, i was asked to be an officer by bed and eid. In short order, i began pwning the problems thread and doing just about anything i could. I've missed being an officer a lot, and helping a growing alliance sort out issues makes it seem like your accomplishing something along the way too. We were 4th, and taking a lot of flaq from masq. Bed and mind are butting heads constantly, and everyone pretty much knows there will be a war at some point between us. being 4th, we're gonna try not to pick the fight, but we werent gonna be walked on either.
After solving some leadership issues we had, new officers were appointed, new sectors joined, and we're a stronger alliance. The fenris/zamo/masq thing is going on, and no one really knows why. We initially didn't want to get involved, but bed got pestered into it by mind. the way those two work around eachother is completly unpredictable, and wierd. We took care of godmode, and i had to count the HoF. also lost around 20k probes. damn, and damn. 3:5 ran to lumi. Me and eid got pulled into a chat with corwin, neal, and one other, and we argued for awhile. then we started hitting corwin, and they decided that maybe they would just let us have omni after all.
Repeated threats and earlier round tensions between us and masq finally got to be too much. We declared war and went after them. Upon hearing we were declaring, an AAL and king cobra disbanded thier kingdoms, and the other KTs fell in short order. the way they fought back unimpressive to say it nicely. thier bigger sectors ran like children, and the remaining loyalists missiles us at random. i had 5 hits, the other AAL had 6-7, bed was broke twice, arsoned some, and missiled a few times, and eid had some failed attacks, probings and missiles. even terran got a missile. who knows why? The universe doesnt seem to look kindly at this incident, but everyone in the 2 alliances involved knew it was going to happen, it was just a question of when.
The pfs are a double edged sword. The leadership is questioning certain peoples actions there, but it seems to have toned down a bit. The leadership is also currently having a debate. Special interests want to persue a crusade of sorts, but most of the leadership isn't interested. We're trying to build a base for a return next round. My personal feeling is that i dont want to do anything to cause our alliance to have a stigma. i was already displeased with how we were made into the polar opposite of masq, and we dont need anything else stopping potential members and allys from coming to us. Myself and the other AAL will be running the ship the next round, and i want there to be something to come back to. We're playing it safe right now, trying to keep universal heat off of us. Relations with most alliances are good i feel, at least with the leadership. the average kingdom still insists on being unreasonable, as proven by certain sectors messages, but i guess thats why i'm here right now. to protect my alliance from idiots. The round is pretty uneventful right now, but with 3 alliances so close NW, i would be surprised if peace lasts the rest of the round.
